“Vision” is some kind of a crucial defining trait of a leader. It is important for a leader to have vision and does not follow others because most of the crowds do not have a purpose and usually ends up nowhere. It takes courage and confidence to have vision and go against it but it can be the most exciting, exhilarating thing to do and people will see you as a leader and will follow you.
Most people live in a state of self-consciousness. They go to work, have families to support; they have friends, live their own social lives and are good citizens. Everyone seems to be busy minding their own business but they are actually socially supporting each other.
They go with the flow and thus they are moving with the crowd and the crowd’s collective consciousness. It was not their goals, their vision or their choices. Hence most people rarely move their own the direction of freedom and true self expression.
All leaders are visionary and people want to follow those who have it. Where you are going to and why you are going there, your objective must be absolutely clear. The clarity of your vision and your commitment towards that “vision” has a direct impact on those who are following you.
Leaders who are visionary develop principles and when the principles are laid down many of the difficult decisions have already been decided basing upon the principles. Let your people know what are the principles and values that are important to you. When you stand for something else other than success or money you’ll find that your people will stand for you, because they are a proud of you to be their leader.
