What is RSS Feed and what can it do? Besides having the big “Orange Button“ on my blog, maybe I ought to explain to my readers about RSS feed and its applications so as to increase the numbers.
RSS means Really Simple Syndication, a format for delivering regularly changing web content like blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. Many news related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
RSS helps you to save time using the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You do not have to visit each site individually and you can ensure your privacy, as you are not required to join each site’s email newsletter.
The use of RSS feed is growing rapidly and a variety of RSS Readers are available which include Amphetadesk, FeedReader and NewsGator. There are also a number of web-based feed readers available and the popular ones are My Yahoo, Bloglines, and Google Reader.
You can now click on and “Subscribe to my RSS Feed”, you’ll get instant updates of any new post from this blog. It is very simple; just add the RSS feed to the list of feeds of your feed reader. The orange button has become the RSS feed standards, click on it to choose your feed reader.
There are now many variations to the feed icon. Here is a list of free RSS feed icons for you to download and use it on your blog.
